How to fight insomnia

You spend the whole night looking at the ceiling, in the morning you’re more tired than before and you can’t get it up? You probably have insomnia. It is not a disease in the strict sense of the word, but it is still a disorder that ruins your days, makes you tired, irritable and in a bad mood. The causes of insomnia are different and among the main ones there are undoubtedly stress and anxiety, which fill your head with bad thoughts and do not let you rest as you would like. 

There are many solutionsagainst insomnia, from homeopathic medicines to medicines, from oriental relaxation techniques to the ancient mantra of “count sheep”. At Wana Food we are convinced that all these methods can be effective in the short term, but there is only one thing that defeats insomnia in a definitive way: happiness. Being satisfied with life, feeling satisfied and finding gratification in your daily routine helps you go to bed happy, rest well and get up in the morning with a smile, ready to face new challenges and opportunities. 

The road to happiness is a long one, we know. True happiness is a state of mind to which one arrives after years and years of positive and negative experiences, reflections on the meaning of life and, of course, sleepless nights. Our advice is to start from rest to find the right path to your happiness and fight insomnia once and for all. Here are some techniques that worked with us: 

  • Fight insomnia with a movie 

Unfinished business that turns into matters of state, small unforeseen events that look like catastrophes, slight pains that become omens of immediate death. Those who suffer from insomnia know all the negative facets of any event and can think about it for hours and hours in bed while trying to sleep. Have you ever thought about who’s worse off than you are? An idea to fall asleep is to watch a movie where the protagonists live similar or worse experiences than yours, get into their situations and wait for the happy ending: as in any self-respecting movie, the characters of our favorite movies find happiness and you can learn from their experiences to find yours! 

  • Fighting insomnia with the help of friends 

“A pain shared, is a pain halved,” says an aphorism. So why not fight insomnia with the help of friends? When you can’t sleep, send a message on Whatsapp to your network of contacts, almost certainly someone is awake and like you no longer knows what to do to get to sleep. A good chat can lift your mood, strengthen your friendship and put you to sleep with a smile. 

The special tip: to make your night chat even more interesting and cheerful, organize it as if it were a real outing. Decide to wear extravagant pyjamas, choose whether to drink a classic herbal tea or dare with a glass of wine, and remember to have a Functional Sweet at hand that makes everything more pleasant, even sleepless nights! 

  • Fight insomnia with numbers 

We mentioned the “count sheep” technique as a solution to insomnia problems. We’ve actually tried it ourselves and it works, but sometimes it’s not enough. If you suffer from chronic insomnia, try counting the marks on the wall, get out of bed and count the books in the bookcase, sit on the terrace and count the white cars that pass by and, if all this is not enough, try to go out for a walk and count the broken street lamps in your street: we are sure that on the third one you will start yawning and can’t wait to get back under the covers to sleep. 

  • Fight insomnia by eating… 

If you can’t sleep and you also have some stomach cramps, you probably don’t suffer from insomnia, but you have eaten badly during the day and your body tries to make you understand this by keeping you awake. In this case you can treat yourself to a tasty snack that makes you go hungry, but makes your stomach heavy and doesn’t let you sleep again, or choose a Functional Sweets that gives you the right nutritional intake with the delicious taste of the cream.
